Overview

Kosovo is an emerging market and worth positioning as one rather than overselling it. Pristina is a young, inexpensive capital, Prizren has a genuinely handsome Ottoman old town, and the Rugova valley and Peja area give mountain scenery with almost no tourist volume. For agents with clients who have already done the obvious Europe, that novelty is the selling point. Hotel stock is limited in both depth and category, which caps the group size we can handle well — we'll tell you the honest ceiling rather than confirming a group we'd then have to split across three properties. The routing constraint here is the one thing agents must understand before they sell it, and it's set out below. Get it wrong and the client is turned back at a border.

What agents should know about Kosovo

Trade points

Best season: May–Sep. Winter has a small ski product at Brezovica; mountain roads need snow-capable vehicles.
Connectivity: One-stop via Istanbul or European hubs to Pristina; overland from Skopje, Tirana or Belgrade.
Typical itinerary: 2N Pristina and Prizren as a Balkan circuit component; rarely standalone.
Currency: euro, used unilaterally.
Routing note — the critical one: Serbia does not recognise Kosovo's independence and treats entry into Kosovo from a third country as an unrecognised crossing. A client who enters Kosovo from Albania or North Macedonia and then attempts to enter Serbia can be refused. Confirm the current rule and the correct sequencing against official guidance, then state the rule plainly on this page — agents will build itineraries off it.
